WEEK 2…

IMG_9849.JPGWelcome to the 2nd week of ‘Music Bonanza!!!’. Listed below are some of my all time favourite songs for you guys, what are you waiting for? Put on your headphones & let’s get lost in the music.

1. AYE SINAMIKAIMG_9844

Music- AR RAHMAN

Singer- KARTHIK

Movie- OK KANMANI

As we all know ARR & Mani Ratnam‘s combination has always blessed us with some magical pieces that sound refreshing even decades down the line, cases in point Roja, Dil Se, Bombay and many others.

And their combination remains as magical as ever in this 2015 movie O KADHAL KANMANI.

Though there are minimal lyrics in this song, ARR’s music & Karthik’s breezy vocals won’t even allow you to notice it. It’s interesting to note that Karthik started his career as a background vocalist for ARR but today he has sung many hit numbers for ARR. This is that song which you could never get tired of listening to.

2. JASHNEBAHAARAA

Music- AR RAHMAN

Singer- JAVED ALI

Movie- JODHAA AKBAR

I have been a fan of this song since the time it released in 2008.

Words fall short to describe this absolute gem of a song.

The singer Javed ali became even more famous after this song & even now whenever he does live concerts, the minute this song starts playing the crowd erupts in loud cheers.

As if this song wasn’t enough, ARR decided to enrapture us all even more by including a flute version of the song as well. Sigh, pure bliss.

3. MEANWHILE BACK AT MAMA’SIMG_9848.PNG

Singers- TIM MCGRAW & FAITH HILL

Album- SUNDOWN HEAVEN TOWN

This is a country song that just tugs at your heart strings.

In this song Tim McGraw sings about missing his country life. I am sure no matter from which part of the world you are, you can all relate to that feeling of needing to go back to your roots.

From the second stanza he’s joined by his wife Faith Hill who elevates the song even more, if that’s possible!

My favourite lines from the song are

Oh, I miss yeah a little dirt on the road, I miss corn growing in a row
I miss being somebody everybody knows there everybody knows everybody
I miss those small town roots, walking around in muddy boots
The sound of rain on an old tin roof, it’s time we head on back…

The next time you visit countryside, if possible, while watching the sunset sitting on your porch don’t forget to listen to this song.

4. Poovukkul

IMG_9845Music- AR RAHMAN

Singers- SUJATHA MOHAN, P.UNNIKRISHNAN

Movie- JEANS

Though all the songs from this movie were a smash hit back when the album was released in 1998, you can see that many of those songs are enjoyed by the people even now.

WOW!! 20 years have passed since I first heard this song, but even now this song sounds as melodic & as refreshing as it did back then.

A gorgeous flute intro part slowly welcomes you into the song & the minute you hear the backing vocals with the flute interlaced with it, you know that you will be hooked onto this song for a long time & the spectacular vocals by Sujatha & Unnikrishnan enhance the song even more. Reputed director Shankar had shot this song across the then 7 wonders of the world making it the most expensive song to be shot at that time. Check out the song below, am sure along with the melody you will be mesmerized by the visuals too.

5. SNEHAM CHERUM NERAMIMG_9846

Music- SHAAN RAHMAN

Singers- RINU RAZAK, HISHAM

Movie- OHM SHANTHI OSHAANA

This is that simply melody which still manages to evoke a plethora of emotions in you.

Shaan Rahman has managed to blend the Hindi part into this Malayalam song effortlessly.

A fab effort by both the singers here. Do you recall those rainy days with you looking out the window being lost in your thoughts & seeing water drops trailing down the window glass? why don’t you listen to this song the next time you do so? You won’t regret it.

So that rounds up this week’s playlist. I hope you guys enjoyed listening to them. Until next Sunday I’ll leave you guys with this quote by Bono ‘Music can change the world because it can change people’.
